Valentine's Macramé Heart Keychain

Carry your love with you. This three-stacked heart keychain is the perfect Valentine’s Day craft. Gift a loved one this practical and handmade keychain, or gift one for yourself! This keychain is made entirely of double half hitch knots- a basic and beginner friendly macramé knot. We made this keychain with our 100% natural hemp twine, an earth-friendly product for sustainable crafting.

Materials Needed:

• #48 Hemp cord
• We used the color Dusty Pink
• A keyring of choice
• We used a lobster style ring
• Scissors

Instructions:

• Measure and cut 6 hemp cords 3.5 feet long.
• Fold one cord evenly in half and attach it to the keychain with a Reverse Lark’s Head knot. Repeat with the other 5 cords.

• Find the 3rd cord from the left. Point this cord down and diagonal to the left, and tie 2 Double Half Hitch knots around it with the 2 cords to the left.
• Find the 4th cord from the left. Point this cord down and diagonal to the right, and tie 2 Double Half Hitch knots around it with the next 2 cords to the right.

• Find the 4th cord from the right. Point this cord down and diagonal to the left, and tie 2 Double Half Hitch knots around it with the next 2 cords on the left.
• Connect the 2 cords that are directly in the middle with a Double Half Hitch knot.

• Find the 3rd cord from the right. Point this cord down and diagonal to the right, and tie 2 Double half hitch knots around it with the next 2 cords on the right.

• The top half of the heart has now been formed.

• Take the cord on the far left and point it down and diagonal to the right. Tie 5 Double Half Hitch knots around it with the next 5 cords.
• Take the cord on the far right and point it down and diagonal to the left. Tie 5 Double Half Hitch knots around it with the next 5 cords.
• Connect the 2 cords that are now in the middle with another Double Half Hitch knot.

• The bottom half of the heart has now been formed, completing the first full heart.

• Find the 3rd cord from the left. Point this cord down and diagonal to the left, and tie 2 Double Half Hitch knots around it with the 2 cords to the left.
• Find the 3rd cord from the right. Point this cord down and diagonal to the right, and tie 2 Double half hitch knots around it with the next 2 cords on the right.

• The top half of the 2nd heart has now been formed.

• Take the cord on the far left and point it down and diagonal to the right. Tie 5 Double Half Hitch knots around it with the next 5 cords.
• Take the cord on the far right and point it down and diagonal to the left. Tie 5 Double Half Hitch knots around it with the next 5 cords.
• Connect the 2 cords that are now in the middle with another Double Half Hitch knot.

• The bottom half of the heart has now been formed, completing the 2nd full heart.

• Repeat steps 11 – 15 to form the 3rd and final heart.
• End your keychain by trimming the remaining ends to the desired length.

• Alternatively, you can bundle all the ends together and secure them with a gathering knot.
